Horseshoe Bridge at Kennet Mouth

KENNET MOUTH REVISITED

The sun, cloud-ringed, like moonlight, strikes the grey
Mud-waters of the Kennet, and the coot’s
Shrill piping punctuates the unrelenting
Roar of gas.  Beyond the railway bridges
The furious flapping of a swan’s wings drowns
The distant throb of unseen aeroplanes.
