On 23 March, the Government announced additional measures to reduce the spread of coronavirus. The steps included the closure of communal places within parks, such as playgrounds, sports courts and outdoor gyms. Katesgrove’s play areas are now closed.
Reading Borough Council (RBC) are asking people to respect the restrictions:
Parks remain open, but please comply with the government restrictions and social distancing advice.
All children’s playgrounds and outdoor gyms are closed until further notice. We are putting notices in all our playgrounds, ball courts and outdoor gyms, asking people to respect the new restrictions during this difficult time. Where possible we will secure the entrances – but this is not practical in all locations.
Notices (pictured above and below) have been put up at Waterloo Meadows and at Aveley Walk.
RBC has a dedicated web page for changes to services during the epidemic, which is regularly updated.
