Community action response

Reading Borough Council (RBC) and the town’s voluntary organisations have formed a community response group to provide support to residents during the coronavirus epidemic. The group’s first meeting will take place today, 18 March.

RBC says that it:

…understands many people across the town will be concerned about the impact on elderly and vulnerable people in particular, who are either self-isolating at home or avoiding contact.

Voluntary groups may apply for a share of £100,000 of additional funding from RBC.

Reading Voluntary Action (RVA) has set up a dedicated web page listing support information as well as ways you can assist your community.

RBC say that you should be cautious about accepting support from people you do not know. If you’re in doubt, check with Reading Citizen’s Advice; their office is closed but they offer advice  online or by phone on 03444 111 306.
