More double yellow lines coming to Elgar Road South

Entrance to Waterloo Meadows allotments

Reading Borough Council (RBC) will carry out a statutory consultation on the introduction of double yellow lines at the entrance to Waterloo Meadows allotments and the Makro delivery entrance on Elgar Road South. The proposals were among additional waiting restrictions proposed at the council’s Traffic Management sub-committee on 9 January.

The additional waiting restrictions are expected to improve visibility when entering or exiting the sites. Katesgrove councillors have agreed with the changes.

Delivery Entrance to Makro

The Katesgrove waiting restrictions were among a long list of possibilities reviewed by the committee. Changes agreed for consultation also included turning part of the parking in front of the shops on Christchurch Road in Church ward into a goods vehicles only loading bay from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday.

  1. That might reduce the need to use the service road at the rear of Christchurch Road shopping area which is in a desperate state at the best of times.
