Romeo and Juliet is a story about a pair of young lovers caught between their feuding families, the Montagues and the Capulets.
The play’s director Rhys Lawton said he wanted to turn something old – the play was written in the 1590s – into something new. “We know these characters, not just from long lessons in English literature, but from life; we know the lovesick teenagers and we know their furious parents. We know their stories and we live their stories. People haven’t changed much over the last 500 years; how we see them has.”
