A new art exhibition called Reading in the Margins is on show at the HolyBrook gallery at Reading Central Library from 6 until 17 November. It includes the work of artists Liz Real and Whitley resident Martina Hildebrandt.
Some of Martina Hildebrandt’s works are in tribute to eminent women associated with Reading, including the first female professor in the UK, Edith Morley, and the mural painter Evelyn Dunbar. Liz Real looks at the traces of people imprisoned in Reading Gaol.
The pieces include linocuts, mixed-media, painting and collage based on the theme of the margins of Reading.
Entrance is free and visitors can meet the artists on most days; contact Liz Real to check when artists are available. The show is open during library opening hours from 6 until 17 November. Both artists also have work on display at the Royal Berkshire Hospital‘s ‘corridor’ exhibition from 5 November until 15 December.
