New Christ Church School on Milman Road in Katesgrove will be celebrating its 150th birthday in a special summer fair on 14 July.
The fair opens at 1.30pm and Reading’s mayor, Councillor Deborah Edwards, is due to arrive at 2pm. There will be a Victorian fancy dress competition, which is open to all, and a martial arts master class and demonstration.
Plans for the fair include a barbecue, a bouncy assault course, an ‘escape challenge’ inspired by Reading’s 3Bs, a Pimm’s tent (for the grown-ups), photos from the Victorian Strollers, stocks to soak a teacher, face painting and a pop-up natural history museum from Reading University with artefacts you can handle.
Proceeds from the fair will go towards constructing a sensory wildlife garden on the school field.
