Roadworks on Island Road, which leads from the A33 to the Smallmead waste recycling centre, will start on Monday 15 January and last for eight weeks.

The level of the road will be raised to reduce the flooding that affects it from time to time. Journeys to and from the tip are likely to take longer during the roadworks, especially at weekends, and temporary traffic lights will be in place to mediate the single lane in use.

Evander Properties are carrying out the work, and have funded the £497,000 roadworks as part of their development of new industrial units along the road.
