Digging will start for the new south and west extensions to the Milman Road Health Centre on Monday 23 November 2015. External work is planned for completion by the end of March 2016, weather permitting.
The full set of works, which includes internal refurbishment, needs to be completed by 30 June 2016, said Anne-Marie Dykes, senior manager at Dr Mittal’s practice.
“Ten members of staff have lost parking spaces during the works and we have been asked to come in by bus, lift share or park on a friend’s driveway instead,” she added. “Some staff members have made arrangements to park at the BT building on Christchurch Gardens. We don’t have much control over patient parking, though.”
“Our contractors, Resource Building Services, are members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and their deliveries are restricted to times other than school delivery or pick-up. They are committed to keeping the local community informed and they will be leafleting residents about progress.”
Milman Road residents say they have not yet received any notification from the contractors and have already been inconvenienced by being temporarily blocked from getting out of the road when the site office containers were delivered on Saturday 14 November.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme operates a complaints procedure for registered companies who don’t adhere to their code of practice. Complaints about the contractors can be made by email on [email protected] or by phone on 0800 783 1423.
The code of practice includes this clause :
Respect the Community
Constructors should give utmost consideration to their impact on neighbours and the public
- Informing, respecting and showing courtesy to those affected by the work.
- Minimising the impact of deliveries, parking and work on the public highway.
- Contributing to and supporting the local community and economy.
- Working to create a positive and enduring impression, and promoting the Code.
